Despite its recent closure in Berkeley, the owners are still dishing out their tasty Thai cuisine at their newer location in Richmond. Whether you're a fan of traditional Thai flavors or looking to try something new, Berkeley Thai House is a must-visit destination for a satisfying meal.
This is a rather belated review, as Berkeley Thai House has closed and the owners are focused on their newer restaurant in Richmond now, so I apologize that I did not post this earlier. My workplace had gotten lunches catered for us, so I got one of the tofu, rice, and broccoli dishes. I thought it was pretty good, decently savory, maybe a higher proportion of carrots and broccoli than I'd personally like but the tofu itself it was juicy and it was overall nicely flavored. It is too bad that they decided to close the Berkeley restaurant, but I hope to be able to try their dishes at their Richmond restaurant.
We came here for lunch after moving our daughter into her dorm on campus at Cal. The food is just as good as I remember it to be. This place has been in business since 1986 - not to date myself :-) The lunch portion they now offer has big portions and comes with the option of a drink. For a college restaurant, this one is a bang for the buck with the students.
I got the pad thai and it tasted like every other pad thai. What I really liked about this place was that the servings are pretty good for the price. I also suggest getting the combo with pad thai to match with thai ice tea. There's a larger serving in the entree but the serving for the combo is also decent. The service was average. Food took a while and the servers don't check up on you until you ask for the check or signal to them. The ambiance is great!! It's a really cute date spot. You can sit outside and inside and both atmospheres are friendly and great to eat out with friends and family!
It's okay...value?? Pad Thai 7/10 - sweet and nutty - good portion size Drunken noodles 7/10 - just tastes like Chinese fried flat noodle - good portion size Spicy basil fried rice 8/10 - flavorful rice - not very spicy at all but is nicely seasoned The combo is nice because it comes with the appetizer which is also shown on the plate. It comes with a drink as well! This is definitely a spot for college students if you want a whole filling meal for a value. Service was slow but not bad. The inside gets really loud and I would probably sit outside.
